High Altitude LEGO Extravaganza

The Nevada Space Grant, the University of Nevada – Reno, National Instruments, The Energizer Battery Company and the LEGO Mindstorms Team combine forces to celebrate the tenth anniversary of LEGO Mindstorms with a High Altitude LEGO Extravaganza.

H.A.L.E. will carry up to to 15 Mindstorms-based payloads into the stratosphere, expose them to extreme cold and the radiation of near space, and drop them.

Individuals and teams from around the world eagerly await the day when their LEGO creations will hurtle to Earth from above 99.9% of the atmosphere. (They’ll have parachutes.) Some will fly cameras; some will fly scientific experiments.

H.A.L.E. will take place in Reno, NV between July 28 – August 2. The exact date is contingent on weather. Check the H.A.L.E. website for updates.
