The Sky's the Limit

The Starlit Hour

December 4, 2008 · 2 Comments

Sarah Ockler introduced me to this iTunes meme, and even though it’s sorta associated with defective-by-design music (in name only), I thought it might be a lot of fun.

What does your music say about you?

  • Put your iPod, Windows Media Player, or whatever on shuffle.
  • For each question, press the ‘next’ button to get your answer.
  • You must write that song name down no matter how silly it sounds.
  • Title this post the same as the answer to the final question.

I’m using Windows Media Player because my SanDisk conked out on me when I turned it on to do this. I thought initially it just needed to be charged, but my computer says it doesn’t recognize the device and it must be malfunctioning. Of course, it very well could be the computer that’s messed up, blaming it on the music player.

IF SOMEONE ASKS, “IS THIS OKAY,” YOU ANSWER:

Warm Valley by Duke Ellington This could be the new, hip catchphrase. “Dude, that’s so warm valley!” How about that? I’m a trend-setter.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?

The Joint is Jumping / Let’s Dance by the Chris McDonald Orchestra This sounds way cooler than who I actualy am.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GIRL/GUY?

Jekyll & Hyde by Petra Apparently I’ve got issues.

HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY?

Screen Door by Rich Mullins This song declares, “It’s about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.”

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE’S PURPOSE?

Rise by Stereo Motion ‘Nuf said.

WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU?

Fearless by dc Talk They might say this, but I doubt it would be a compliment.

WHAT DO YOU OFTEN THINK ABOUT?

Second Time Around by Tom McBride I suppose I do think about second chances from time to time, but I’ve learned that a missed opportunity is a sad and scary thing. Our longing for second times or the ability to go back in time to make changes is often a misplaced desire for meaningful relationships.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PERSON YOU LIKE?

Red letters by dc Talk  “There is hope in the red letters.” Does this mean I think there’s hope for that person yet? This is probably what my wife thinks of me.

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE STORY?

Sharp Edge by Howard McGhee This works. I generally think of my life story as ‘damned if you do and damned if you don’t.’

WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE?

A-Tisket, A-Tasket by Ella Fitzgerald Somewhat appropriate, I guess. My wife is pretty hot stuff.

WHAT SONG DID/WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING?

Cornelius by Newsboys A good song to dance to, but probably not for weddings.

WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL?

I Can’t Get Started by the Chris McDonald Orchestra I’ve instructed my wife to have Amazing Grace played at my funeral. Preferably on bagpipes. Dropkick Murphys style.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR?

A Night in Tunisia by Dizzy Gillespie Meh. Go figure.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SECRET?

He Has Made Me Glad by the Insyderz But the question remains: Why is it a secret? If you were a Sunday school-going child, you may remember this song. This version is by a Ska band.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS?

Consume Me by dc Talk I don’t even know where to begin with this one.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO NAME THIS POST?

The Starlit Hour by Ella Fitzgerald

Stealing Borrowing Sarah’s idea: If you’re reading this, I tag you to try this meme on your blog. I especialy would like to see Shonda and Clary Lopez respond.
